I'm don't think I'm quite ready for academic research and writing yet. That's my main concern at the moment. I guess it is going to be a part of my life for the next few years.
Have booked some studio time to track some things with Shaun. It'll be good to get back to what we used to do at QACI. I really want to go back to QACI and have a listen to the JBL's. And become acquainted again with the beloved C24.
I acquired 'Songs From The Labyrinth' today, featuring Sting (Vocals, Lute) and Eden Karamazov (Lute). Beautiful performance with some recorded songs from the concert. Hopefuly its from the concert V and I went to. That was beautiful. The roof was a sky. Must also get a recording of Slava Grigorian playing.
Also, watched an intimate interview between Diana Krall and Sir Elton John this evening. She played a bucket load of songs, which was wonderful!!! She speaks about 'feel' - I think this is really important as she describes herself as 'not a singer-songwriter'. She reinvents songs and re-tells them. It relates to my theory classes at the QCM - reharmonisation and just rearranging pieces harmonically to suit what you want the piece to produce.
All exciting thoughts.
Wagamama was great :)
Must get practicing for Youth Musicians on Sunday. I must stop neglecting my guitar.
